marriage/union ceremonies, naming ceremonies and all occasions in-between.
About me- Anita Bedford
I was born on St Mary's, Isles of Scilly-With the exception of periods of living on the mainland for education and nurse training, Scilly has been my home.
My professional background is a Registered Nurse and Community Nurse Practitioner; based at St Mary's Hospital on the Isles of Scilly.
After I retired from the Nursing profession, I undertook studies in understanding how our distant ancestors developed their rituals and religious beliefs. The human race have continually changed in how we embrace rituals during our journey through life. Although some rituals and religions have dominated different cultures around our planet, the diversity in how we practice these rituals has evolved and is part of how we express how we feel about our human existence.
Many of us have deeply held spiritual beliefs, they matter to us. This may be a traditional religion or may be not. I do not define myself with any particular religion. This said, I respect people's religious & spiritual beliefs, as long as they are practiced with equity, compassion, empathy and tolerance.
I have spent time with a practicing Celebrant, and undertook the training required to become a Celebrant, which I passed with Distinction.
I specialize in crafting and conducting personalized ceremony services in the Isles of Scilly . Whether it's weddings, funerals, memorial services, naming ceremonies, renewal of vows, dealing with closure, or any significant occasion, I will work with you in shaping your meaningful and memorable ceremony, providing a unique experience for your special occasion; bringing warmth, sincerity, and professionalism to every event I undertake.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: WHAT IS A CELEBRANT.
The difference between a Celebrant and Registrar.
A Registrar is a government official employed by a Local Authority responsible for keeping legal records from births to deaths. Registrars also conduct legally binding marriages and civil partnership ceremonies. These usually require a strict format and words.
In England Celebrants DO NOT have the authority to make a marriage legally binding. A couple who are married by a Celebrant must also wish to register their union in a registry office before or after their wedding/union ceremony. This can happen in a Registry Office near the couple's primary residence or on the Isles of Scilly.
A Celebrant usually officiates at a Secular service, although the service can combine non religious and religious practices & dialogue- the important point is, all services are about the requirements of you and your loved ones- It should tell your story and your journey. Your voice, your choice, your ceremony.
YOUR PERFECT CEREMONY
Traditional services and ceremonies are not for everyone. Therefore, if you are considering a ceremony which reflects your beliefs, is about you or your loved ones and focuses on your individuality, then I may be able to offer you the alternative you seek.
